Peloponnese

Peloponnese or (Morias) is a large peninsula (technically an island since the 1893 construction of the Corinth Canal), located in southern Greece and it is devided in 7 prefectures: Argolida, Achaia, Arkadia, Lakonia, Messinia, Korinthia and Ilia. The peninsula has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Its modern name derives from ancient Greek mythology, specifically the legend of the hero Pelops who was said to have conquered the entire region. The name Peloponnesos means “Island of Pelops”.

This Land was the homeland of the Mycenaeans, of the Olympic Games (776BC), Hercules, Helen of Troy, Sparta, tragic heroes in the theatre of Epidavros..
